Becoming a foster carer was always something William Campbell Foundation’s carers Monique and Mick wanted to do. “When the time was right, we put in an inquiry to William Campbell Foundation,” Monique said.
After having two of their own children, Monique and Mick knew they had to wait until their family was ready. “We had a family meeting and spoke to our children. We knew we had to be ready as a whole family unit otherwise it wasn’t going to work,” Mick said.
Monique and Mick have been short-term foster carers with William Campbell Foundation for 16 months and have recently cared for three-year-old, Chloe*. “The most special moment for me was when I was sitting in the front yard and Chloe came up to me and said, ‘You’re the best daddy’,” Mick said.

Knowing Chloe would be restored to her family, Monique and Mick ensured that she was loved. “Watching Chloe learn to trust and put down her walls was a very special moment for me. She learnt to love and be loved,” Monique said.
Monique and Mick said the support and guidance from William Campbell Foundation had been invaluable. “We look after the children and they look after us. They have provided us with on-going training which has really helped us become better foster carers,” Mick said.
