Again earlier this week a couple of boats from Sydney Game Fishing Club went 4-3-3 on good sized tuna with most fish pulling the scales down over the 60 kilogram mark.
Shellharbour Game club boat Loose Knots headed out of Bellambi on Monday around noon and headed north to Browns where they hooked up and boated 4 fish ranging from 40-70kg.
With the Wollongong Game Fishing Club’s annual Wollongong tournament on this weekend, anticipation is at an all-time high with the southern bluefin turning up at the right time as well as plenty of big sharks out over the shelf.
Closer to home there wasn’t that many out of Bellambi over the weekend with the swell that came up. Launching at Bellambi became very difficult with the surge created by the swell and from reports a couple wished they hadn’t gone out, damaging their boats whilst trying to retrieve at the ramp.
The sand build-up at Bellambi ramp has been an ongoing issue for far too long and very little interest has been shown by the powers-that-be but perhaps a serious injury might be the unnecessary impetus to have something done.
Quite a few fished out of Port Kembla with some nice reds hitting the cleaning tables along with some good sized flathead coming from Port Beach and also Wollongong sands.
With the swell up, many decided to fish the Lake and were rewarded with some good sized flatties and some huge winter whiting. Most of the flatties fell to a well-presented soft plastic whilst the whiting and some stud bream and blackfish were taken on squirt worms.
A couple of shop customers started their crabbing season early with some excellent results on some well over legal blue swimmers and later reported they were full of meat.
