Days are getting longer again, the chill of winter is behind us for another year and the promise of summer is on the horizon.
I just love this time of year. It has such a fresh, revitalising energy about it.
Everything is coming out of hibernation and springing back to life....including us.
As the energy builds around us, we don't want to be left behind so spring is the perfect time to clean up your diet and reclaim your energy using heaps of fresh seasonal produce as your fuel.
One of the best ways to spring clean your insides is by including a nourishing detox smoothie into your daily diet at this time of year.
Smoothies are an awesome way of providing the body with heaps of nutrients whilst they also provide your system with a well earned digestion break from the heavy foods we typically consume in winter.
So here is one of my favourite springtime detox drinks that will give you a spring in your step and allow you to enjoy the vitality of the season.
Springtime Detox Smoothie
Ingredients:
Makes enough for 2
2/3 cup of almond milk
3/4 cup of ice
1 cup kale (roughly chopped)
2 stalks of celery (roughly chopped)
1 green apple (cored and chopped)
1 tbsp flaxseed (ground)
1 tsp raw honey
Method:
Simply put all your ingredients in a blender or food processor and blitz to make a smooth, creamy consistency and enjoy straight away.
For those who want a little extra fibre to start their day, add half an avocado to the mix or a tablespoon of chia seeds for some added nourishment.
