A tour of the site on Friday revealed the size and expanse of the main salon, an open colour room and the view from a private room overlooking MacCabe Park and Keira Street.
The Markovski family are delighted the salon will be located on the same level outside the new David Jones as Mecca Maxima.
Mrs Gorgievski’s father Lube Markovski describes Mecca Maxima as the best retailer in Australia and were setting the benchmark for operators like him.
“They work really hard on providing an experience for their guests and having the best quality ranges. They are doing things so differently and we want to adopt a lot of the same philosophies at Charli & Kate.”
That involves not just styling their client’s hair but educating them about the best ways to manage it. And that is done through extensive training of staff.
Which is why Charli & Kate employed its entire team early. They are about to begin two weeks of Induction and training with some of the leading stylists and suppliers of hair products in Australia.
That includes two days at the L’oreal Academy in Sydney which is opening its facilities available especially for the Markovski family and the independent Wollongong business that is stocking many leading brands.
The Markovski family is also using all local businesses to do the store fit-out and Mrs Gorgievski has employed Angela Juskiw as the store manager. Ms Juskiw has many years experience in the hair industry in the Illawarra.
