The Relay ambassador said the enormity of the task became apparent about 3pm on Saturday.

They even walked a few extra laps at the end to ensure they clocked up 100km.
Pat Smithers and Gary Howard were also 24-hour walkers.
“It was tough – the first probably 12 hours was not too bad, overnight was very cold, but it was beautiful when it warmed up again this morning,” Mr Smithers, 29, said.
“A good friend of the family is a survivor and my mum’s school was here walking all weekend, so I came down to support them and the cause.”
