Elton John-mania will slowly take a hold this week ahead of what will be a historic open air concert at WIN Stadium on Sunday evening.
Over 20,000 people will invade the stadium on Sunday afternoon to watch one of the great pop icons of all-time.
Sir Elton himself will be in the city for just hours.
Yet many people will be coming into this region from far and wide, this being the one and only Elton John show in New South Wales.
The show will provide a terrific economic boost and it will be a great showcase for what is possible in our region.
Large numbers are coming from intrastate, some from interstate and some are even travelling from overseas to see this show.
Destination Wollongong has estimated the one-off show will generate $3million for the local economy alone.
It’s early days but the weather gods are smiling on the concert with conditions predicted to be good.
Weatherzone is predicting top temperatures of around 26 degrees and a mostly fine day so those sitting on the ground might be best advised to bring some sunscreen or a hat.
This show sold out a long time ago.
Yet here at the Illawarra Mercury we are giving a readers a late chance to grab two double passes to the front section of Elton’s concert.
