When Heather McCall thought she was going to Wollongong Golf Club with her family to celebrate her 100th birthday she had no idea of the surprise waiting.

Mrs McCall arrived to find son Ian McCall, her four grandsons and a bagpipe player all waiting in kilts along with some of the other guests.
Mrs McCall was born in Glasgow and traveled to Australia with her son Ian McCall and late daughter Sheila on board the SS Strathmore in 1952 and settled in Wollongong.
She now has six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
“I’m having a very good day,” she said.
“The kilts were a nice surprise. I am looking forward to having a chat to everyone”
And so was the limo that picket her up.
Mrs McCall said seeing all her grandsons wearing kilts was a bit dazzling though.
Asked about the secret to a long healthy happy life she said “hard work”.
Many people in the Illawarra would have met her during her long career as a domestic supervisor at Wollongong Hospital.
“When I came here I looked for a job. I was in that job 35 years. I was working in the hospital. I still see many of the nurses now in the shopping centres”.
