Two men have been injured in a violent home invasion carried out by five men, including one armed with an axe.

The injured men, aged 43 and 20, were at a home on Gareema Avenue, Koonawarra when the intruders forced entry about 8pm Monday.
They were assaulted, and later attended Wollongong Hospital with wounds to their heads.
The 43-year-old man also suffered broken ribs and remained at the hospital overnight. The younger man was released later on Monday night.
One of the injured remained at the hospital overnight, the other was released later on Monday night.
Neither victim has provided a statement to police and detectives are still working to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command established a crime scene and examined the home later on Monday night.
