Police attached to Strike Force Raptor have raided seven homes across the Illawarra, including one at Barrack Heights, as part of an ongoing operation targeting the South Coast chapter of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang.

Officers searched a home on Edward Street at Barrack Heights about 6.30am on Wednesday, issuing a firearms prohibition order and weapons prohibition order on a 36-year-old man living at the address.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said officers found cash, as well as medication police allege the man – a Comanchero member – didn’t have a prescription for.

The cash, which totalled more than $30,000, was seized and investigations are continuing.

The man had not been charged as of late on Wednesday afternoon.

However, the spokeswoman said it was likely he would be given a future court attendance notice for possessing a prohibited drug.

The search was one of seven on Wednesday, with homes at Albion Park, Dapto, Kanahooka, Mangerton and Wollongong also raided.

Further cash, steroids and knuckle dusters were seized.

A 26-year-old Albion Park man was charged after he was allegedly found in possession of a trench knife when his vehicle was stopped by officers.

The man was charged with possessing an offensive implement and having a knife in a public place.

He was given bail and is due to appear in Port Kembla Local Court on October 11.
