Many families and visitors to the region are expected to flock to Jamberoo to experience The Perfect Storm, Funnel Web, Taipan and other water rides.
This week Emma Murphy got her first taste of the action when she visited the water theme park. Ms Murphy recently moved to Wollongong from the Central West and had never been to Jamberoo before and couldn’t believe she now had a world class attraction in her own backyard.
Strobe lights and large speakers have been added to the Perfect Storm over winter to create the effect of thunder and lightning.
“The strobe lighting is really fun. It is dark and then there are strobes everywhere,” Murphy said.
“I could hear the thunder in between my heart beating. It is fun. It is cool. You start going down and you think you are okay and then you are in this random tunnel and suddenly there is a storm. And then there is this big drop and it felt like my stomach went through my mouth.
“It was good. It was like three different rides on one. It wasn’t like a ride that you just hop on and its over. This is really cool.”
Ms Murphy’s companions Adem Bektasovski and Reagan Pabis ranked The Perfect Storm as their favourite ride.
But Ms Murphy then went on the Funnel Web and rated it slightly ahead as her favourite.
“It is fast. It doesn’t have as big a drop. And when you get into the funnel bit you go up side to side and it is really cool,” she said.
“They are both incredible. They are not the same so it is good to go from one to the other.”
