The Memorial Cup has a special place in the Price stable’s hearts as the race is named in honour of Rob’s father in law and Shoalhaven trainer Terry Robinson’s dad.
The family endeavour to have a runner in the race every year and Feisty Fox will fly the flag in 2017. Price was hopeful the five-year-old mare would run a strong race after a 50-day break.
“My wife is obviously always keen to have a runner in her dad’s race and this just turned out to be suitable for her,” he said.
“She has been going really good. She ran a really nice second at her first start this prep but pulled a muscle in her stomach so we’ve had to take our time with her.
Her work has been good since then.”
Feisty Fox jumps from barrier one and will be ridden by Peter Wells. Race one jumps at 12.34pm.
