Lead singer of country-blues outfit Cash Savage and the Last Drinks said it’s exciting to be part of a festival that has something for everyone.
“If you go to a festival to see exactly what you like you might as well go to see the band’s shows. Curators are trying to set up an event,” Savage said.
Kim Moyes of multi-ARIA Award winning electro duo The Presets agreed, saying a mix of genres made for a good festival.
“I’m all about festivals with the diversity and it makes for a much more exciting experience when there’s a variety,” Moyes said.
“For me growing up and going to festivals and seeing a whole variety of music that was what I was most excited by [like] going to early Big Day Outs.”
He said The Presets haven’t played in Wollongong since their Apocalypso Tour around 2009 – with hits like “My People” and “This Boy’s In Love” – so they have a lot to catch up on, but don’t call them a nostalgia act just yet.
“I have mixed feelings about that. We definitely have been around for a decade and have released three albums and had some pretty big success,” Moyes said, noting they’ve been working on a new album which will hopefully be out soon.
“We still think our best days are still ahead of us and not behind us.”
Find The Presets on the “I Sea You Stage”, Sunday from 10:15pm. Cash Savage will be on the “Out Of Space Stage”, Sunday from 2:10pm.
Meanwhile Major Leagues has cancelled their appearance days out from the festival and will be replaced by WAAX.
Last month SAFIA pulled the pin on the underage component while Gold Class pulled out altogether. They’re replacements Allday, DJ Black Summer and Tyne-James Organ (underage only) and Wavves.
