The Kembla trainer was in the market for a horse to lease and soon came across the son of Keep The Faith.

“He had only been on the website for two hours and I was the first person to ring,” Dean explains. 

“[Owner Alan McKenzie] was looking to sell I said to give him a call in a couple of weeks if he hadn’t sold him and I would lease him.

“It wouldn’t have been more than an hour later that he had called back. He agreed to send him up my way and said we both needed the change of luck.”

Making the trip up from Victoria, Myprayer has since settled in at Kembla Grange.

Dean gave the promising three-year-old his first race at his new home track a fortnight ago where he ran on well to nab third on debut. 

“We were very happy with him because we were expecting him to be a late three-year-old or early season four-year-old,” Dean said of the run. 

“He has come to hand quicker than we thought he would. He is still very immature.

“He is big and reedy so needs some filling out and maturing to do.”

Myprayer will have his second race start for Dean in Saturday’s Mount Murray 3YO Maiden Plate (1300m) at Kembla.  Apprentice Brock Ryan will resume his partnership with the three-year-old in a tough contest which features first starters from the stables of Chris Waller, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, John Thompson as well as Peter and Paul Snowden.
