The fire broke out after 12 noon and two crews from Helensburgh quickly brought it under control while another crew from Otford were on standby.
There are reports of old furniture in the area of bushland that caught alight but fire crews quickly contained the blaze.
A high fire danger warning is in place in the Illawarra over the weekend as other reports come in of a grass fire at Mangerton.
Winds are expected to ease off this afternoon and lessen across the weekend.
