A team from the Village Building Co – the company behind Bulli Brickworks and Woonona’s Edgewood Estate – faced up to residents worried about parking, traffic, privacy, bins and how a four-storey block could change the character of Corrimal.

The developers are in the process of buying the leagues club site, are due to finalise the sale at the end of this month, after the club abruptly closed its doors last week.

The land was sold with an approved development application, from 2011, to build a three-and-four-storey, two-tower complex of 60 apartments and six villas.

The building company bosses said they would try to respect community concerns, but said they would make no changes to the 2011 plans.

Resigned to the fact that “we’re stuck with it”, residents quizzed the company about how they would stop congestion which has plagued other large developments in the northern suburbs.

“We’re worried we’re going to end up with 60 red bins lining the street,” one resident said.

Others said they were worried about cars and other recreational vehicles – like boats and caravans – clogging the street.

“There’s 118 parking spaces, and that falls short of two parking spaces per unit, and these days most families have two cars – so the whole complex won’t be able to handle all the cars,” one man said.
