In a thrilling finish to the two game series, the Cougars were awarded a penalty for stripping the ball when the scores locked.
Alicia Hawke and Emma Walters scored in the first half to lead 8-4 at the break, then Keeley Davis extended it 10 minutes later.
However, as they prepare for the World Cup in Australia next month, Canada hit the lead with two tries, before Davis hit back with 17 minutes remaining.
The scores at 18-all were level when Canada winger Natasha Smith cross out wide with 10 minutes remaining. '
But Etherden sealed it.
The win came after Canada took out the opening game of the series 26-20 on Saturday, after Corrimal had led 10-nil.
The Cougars were unbeaten throughout the Illawarra competition this season, beating Berkeley 24-nil in the grand final last month.
