Located at 6/2 Barney Street, Kiama it features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, front wrap-around balcony and south-facing private balcony room.
It had previously been purchased off the plan a couple of years ago.
Agent, Michele Lay, principal at Ray White Kiama said this was a record sale price for a residential home in Kiama.
“The purchaser up-spec’ed everything, so everything is different to the original ones off the plan,” she said.
Ms Lay said it had attracted an “enormous amount of interest”, and had ultimately sold to an interstate buyer last week.
She said potential buyers from Sydney, Canberra and Queensland had expressed interest.
“(The buyer) was looking to downsize; find something secure with a lift that they could lock up and go if they needed to,” Ms Lay said.
“She just had to have it… It was perfect for her.
“It is something that Kiama hasn’t seen I don’t think.
“The quality is exemplary, the aspect is amazing, and I think it was something Kiama hasn’t seen as yet.”
The wrap-around balcony offers an outdoor kitchen with gourmet gas barbecue and an outdoor lounge area.
The south-facing balcony is fully covered and private, with two day beds and a Japanese hot tub.
The apartment, which has a total floor space of 316sqm, was sold fully furnished.
“Given all the talk about the market softening, I think this is a great feather in the cap and hopefully shows that the market is still quite buoyant if the right products are there,” Ms Lay said.
“I think that it is one of Kiama’s finest.”
According to Australian Property Monitors, 4A Barney Street sold for $2.57 million in 2016, and 4B Barney Street sold for $2.6 million last year.
“There’s also been some good off-the-plan sales in that strip,” Ms Lay told the Mercury recently.
“It’s sort of turning out to be the Cliff Road of Kiama – it’s millionaires’ row.”
In May, a home at 2 Weaver Terrace, Bulli sold under the hammer for $3,600,000.
A Coledale beachfront home sold for more than $3 million, and a real estate “record” was also set for Port Kembla with a prestige home selling for $3,200,000 in early April.
Offered to the market for the first time in 60 years, the Coledale beachfront home sold for $3,410,000.
Also, a “classic coastal penthouse” in Wollongong fetched in the vicinity of $3 million earlier this year.
‘Beaumaris’, located at 19/42 Cliff Road, Wollongong was offered to the market for the first time in 40 years.
