The IMB Bank 2017 Illawarra Business Awards night celebrates the success and achievement of businesses right across the region on Friday October 20 at the WIN Entertainment Centre.
‘Diamonds are Forever’ is the theme of the black tie gala event with table seating that will be held from 6.30pm to 11.30pm.
Executive director of the Illawarra Business Chamber, Chris Lamont, said the Awards recognise the important contribution business makes to the region, whether that be the creation of employment opportunities, provision of essential services or contribution to local charities or social enterprise.
“The perseverance, courage and achievements of local businesses are enormously important to this region and celebrating this success not only recognises this, but provides an example and encouragement for the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders.
“This year a record number of finalists have been shortlisted by the independent judging panel. Judges have been impressed with the quality of entries, talent and commitment shown by the entrants.

“Through the awards, competing and sponsoring businesses enhance their profile and connections with the community, other businesses and regional business leaders.
“Importantly, the awards have also helped many businesses across the region improve business strategies and plans and establish valuable networks which have secured new business opportunities and growth.”
All applications are assessed by an independent expert judging panel. Two judges are assigned to each Award Category. The judging process is overseen by the auditor of judges, Warwick Shanks, managing partner of KPMG Wollongong and the ambassador of judges Professor Paul Wellings CBE, vice chancellor, University of Wollongong.
Twelve of the 17 categories are aligned with the NSW State Business Awards, meaning the winners of the aligned categories will be given the opportunity to compete at the state level and bring further recognition to their business and the region. The NSW State Business Awards will be held on November 17 in Sydney.

IMB Bank is sponsor again
The IMB Bank Illawarra Business Awards showcase the immense talent, creativity and tenacity of the Illawarra business community.
Events such as these are made possible by the generosity of the naming sponsor and supporting sponsors.
IMB Bank chief executive Robert Ryan said the Illawarra’s home-grown bank had come on board as the major sponsor because it felt the awards were an excellent way of acknowledging the best in the community.
“We work closely with hundreds of local businesses and the one thing they have in common is their commitment to provide employment and services to the community.”
IMB Bank, helping people achieve their financial goals for 137 years, is tireless in its continuing support of the Illawarra and are delighted to partner with the Illawarra Business Chamber to hold the Awards.
