A Lake Illawarra woman accused of stabbing a man during a consensual threesome has been arrested after failing to turn up to a scheduled court appearance.
Magistrate Michael Stoddart issued an arrest warrant for Sara Joyce McDonald on Wednesday when she failed to front Wollongong Local Court for a mention of her case.
The Mercury understand the warrant was executed on Thursday and McDonald taken into police custody. She will front court on Friday.
Meantime, police allege the 36-year-old used a carving knife to stab her flatmate and possible lover on March 16 after she became upset while trying to join him and another woman in a threesome.
Court documents tendered during a previous bail application reveal McDonald and the man lived together in the Grove Circuit house but were not dating, although police said the circumstances of the stabbing indicated they may have been in casual sexual relationship.
The pair was with two other males and an unidentified female in the house on the morning of March 16 when they broke off into respective groups to have sex, police said.
It is alleged the victim and the female were having sex in a converted garage, while McDonald and the two other men were together in an upstairs bedroom. At some stage McDonald went downstairs to join her flatmate and the other woman.
McDonald allegedly attempted to join the pair for sex, however she became upset (for reasons not disclosed in court) and began to argue with the flatmate. Police allege she stabbed him in the chest moments later.
The man was flown to hospital for surgery while police arrested McDonald and charged her with wounding with intent.
