Johnson was on hand when both Karim Elmer and Tom Jeffery recorded hat-tricks for Keira in their under 16 cricket match.
“I’m nearly 80, I’ve been involved with cricket for 70 years and in all that time, I’ve never seen two hat tricks in the same innings and I’m likely to never see it again.” Johnson said.
Elmer was the first to achieve the milestone and Jeffery followed soon after, ensuring the match went down to the wire. However, Dapto was able to sneak home for a one wicket victory.
Johnson credited both boys for their love of cricket.
“They’re lovely boys, very keen, very respectful of the coaches. They are a delight to have in the team because they’re so keen and they put 100% in to training every day.”
