SYDNEY will host Illawarra on Sunday looking for the first win of their campaign after New Zealand import DJ Newbill snatched a late two-point win for the Breakers on the buzzer on Friday night.

Kings import Perry Ellis leveled the scores at 85 apiece with a deft tip-in of a wayward Todd Blanchfield jumper with three seconds left, giving the hosts one chance at the other end for the go-ahead bucket.

Most eyes were on former Hawks Kirk Penney before Shae Ili found Newbill with the inbound, allowing him to charge down the lane and lay the ball in with just 0.8 seconds on the clock.

Newbill finished with 22 points and seven rebounds while Penney had 25, 19 in the first half. Ellis led the Kings with 19 points with Kevin Lisch, Travis Leslie and Todd Blanchfield all contributing 15.

the Kings will host Illawarra, who took on the Wildcats at Perth Arena on Friday, at Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday afternoon.
