A woman has been left in a serious condition in hospital after an apparent road rage attack in Wollongong on Wednesday.

The woman was driving near the intersection of Hunter and Napier streets in Balgownie about 8am when another driver allegedly rammed her vehicle.
Police were told the male driver assaulted the woman after the crash.
It is not known whether the pair knew each other.
The male driver allegedly left the scene before police and emergency services arrived.
The woman was treated for facial injuries at the scene and was taken to Wollongong Hospital where she is in a serious condition.
Nine News has reported the man was allegedly driving a stolen car.
A police spokesman said the circumstances of the incident were under investigation.
