Kiama’s long-vanished Antrim Theatre, Kiama School of Arts and The Brighton Hotel will be among those featured in an exhibition.
Presented by Kiama District and Historical Society, A Closer Look: Lost and Found Treasures of Kiama will feature current and historic photographs of some of Kiama’s most recognisable homes, as well as information about the homes.
Researcher/photographer and society member Miggs Bodie has used various resources and spoken to long-time residents to collate details on many Kiama homes.
Mrs Bodie said the exhibition focuses on domestic architecture, “much of it still standing but at risk”.
“Houses both grand and humble dating from circa 1860 have been photographed and researched so that brief histories accompany each photo where possible,” she said.
“We are also asking those who attend the exhibition to correct mistakes and fill in gaps where they can. There is also a section that looks at houses and other buildings that have been demolished, again with their histories.”
The exhibition is on at Kiama’s Old Fire Station from Friday to Tuesday, 9am to 5pm daily.
