Wollongong’s Parameadows School and Warilla’s Peterborough School will share the funds raised on Wednesday night – which topped the 2016 total of $160,000.
Organisers Kylee and Michael Dennis, who run Shellharbour’s Ocean Beach Hotel, said the money goes directly towards helping local children with special needs.
‘’It is such a worthwhile cause and it is great to see hoteliers from across the region banding together to show their support,’’ Kylee Dennis said.
‘’The staff and school communities at Parameadows and Peterborough do such a fantastic job – we are pleased to be able to help in any way we can.’’
AHA NSW and national president Scott Leach, who also attended the October 18 event at the Novotel Wollongong along with AHA NSW executive members, said the local organising committee had done a fantastic job.
‘’Led by Michael and Kylee, hoteliers in the Illawarra really are making a difference,’’ he said.
‘’What they have achieved over the last few years in particular is extraordinary.’’
