After six months intense training Mr Knust won his division in the ICN Natural Body Building Competition and is heading to Bali to compete in his first international competition. He will then take a short break from training before a busier than ever 12 months.
Mr Knust won the national title after taking out his division and becoming state champion in Sydney two weeks ago. By being recognised as the best natural bodybuilder in his division in Australia he has earned himself a coveted pro card to compete professionally around the globe.
“I don’t know anyone who has actually won one before. It basically means I am now a professional bodybuilder. In many sports you can turn pro anytime. But in bodybuilding you have to win a pro card. Now I am eligible to compete in professional shows around the world”.
Mr Knust trained for five years to get to this point and said it would not have been possible without the amazing support of his wife Natalie who was also his support crew back stage.
“A tonne of work has gone into this. I have never worked so hard in my life. It has been a pretty challenging six months of preparation. I was hopeful but am very excited to come away with a win. I cried because of all the work and sacrifices that went into it”.
Mr Knust asked his wife to join him on stage when they presented him with his pro card. They now head to Bali for an international pro show this Saturday which meant going straight back into training. But the couple will take some time out in Bali after that commitment.
“Not long ago this was a dream. I am pretty excited now to do international shows,” he said.
Mr Knust hopes his achievement encourages other bodybuilders from the Illawarra to compete at the national and international level.
