Govers, 29, has previously represented Australia 121 times scoring 58 goals, last playing for his country against India in November.
Kookaburras coach Colin Batch said he was hoping to see Govers capture the form which earned selection in the bronze medal winning 2012 London Olympics team. “We identified there were some of our more experienced athletes who haven’t been in the program that did play well during AHL and we want to see if they can reach the level they have in the past,” he said.
A fellow Albion Park junior, Hayes was part of the NSW Australian Hockey League team in Perth last month.
It comes as Gerringong’s Grace Stewart and Blackbutt’s Mikaela Patterson have been included in the Hockeyroos squad for the upcoming series against Japan in Adelaide.
