The estuaries have well and truly started to heat up with some excellent flathead and whiting to be had in Lake Illawarra as well as the Shoalhaven River which has been having a great run of legal flatties and school jewfish.

Shellharbour Game Fishing Club hosted their inaugural Mako tournament last weekend and although it was a little rough and breezy on Saturday a large number of boats headed east.
There were plenty of sharks caught and potentially a few Australian and NSW records broken and plenty of club records broken but the standout capture went to Shoalhaven Game boat Team Outcast when they weighed in their monster mako shark that eventually stopped the quickly escalating digital scale reading at a tad over 345 kilograms.
A mighty capture in itself but on just 15 kilo line glass made it all the more satisfying.
Congratulations to all the competitors. Full details are posted up on the club’s Facebook page or www.shellharbourgamefishing.com.au.
