Gameiro played just 20 minutes in a pre-season trial game with the Roar, but has been missing from the A-League for almost two years.
The 24-year-old, who has previously played at Fulham, Wellington Phoenix, Sydney FC and Melbourne City, has been named in the Brisbane squad for the clash with Central Coast Mariners on Sunday.
Gameiro represented the Australian under 20 and 23 teams, as recently as 2014, but has had a wretched run with injury.
He first tore his ACL in 2014 while on tour with the Olyroos in China.
The striker then tore it twice more during a torrid two year stint at Melbourne City where he made just five appearances.
He was given a lifeline by Roar coach John Aloisi earlier this year with a one-year deal in Brisbane.
