The trials, which were held across the past two weekends, saw boys and girls of all ages battle it out for selection in the Illawarra sides.

“There was a high quality of play from all of the children and a lot of talent on display.” Kevin Marsh from Basketball Illawarra said. “Boys numbers were very large again, with large numbers for all age groups, and the girls were slightly lower but they are growing.”

The teams will be announced on November 25 and those selected will represent the region in the revamped Southern Junior League next Autumn before the Country Championships in June. The league will feature teams from NSW’s southeast, including Moss Vale, Albury and Wagga Wagga.

Those selected will contest a number of trial matches throughout the summer.
