The Disability Trust’s Margaret Biggs said a Santa Fest Wollongong Christmas Carols event had previously been held in JJ Kelly Park.
“But now we have decided to grow that and partner very happily with the Salvation Army. The reason for the synergy is both organisations are looking to help younger people in need. The proceeds of the day will be split 50/50 between the Salvos and The Disability Trust where it will go to help local children with disabilities”.
Karen Walker said the Salvo’s was very excited to partner in the December 10 event which will support the First Floor Program. The fundraising is being done in memory of the late Jayne Wilson who was the founder of the First Floor Program who died on Christmas Day 2013.
“It will be a family event with plenty of food and activities for young families,” Mrs Biggs said.
“Everyone is welcome to come, relax and enjoy Santa Fest from 3pm onwards on Sunday the 10th of December which is the day after the Santa Claus Pub Crawl. We really encourage everyone to come dressed as Santa.”
It will be a traditional carols event featuring local talent headlined by Trent Bowater and support by the Wollongong Brass Band and the Salvos Band.
