There are so many variations of smoothies you can create with loads of smoothie inspiration available in wholefood recipes books and the internet, so just start trawling and you will find one that suits your tastebuds to get you revved up in the morning.
This one is one of our favourites in the Meades household. It is a delicious combination of fresh strawberries (or raspberries), teamed with creamy coconut milk, bananas, macadamia nuts and cinnamon. Yum, my mouth is salivating just thinking about it.
The combination of fruit, coconut cream and nuts provide the perfect combination of carbohydrates, protein and fats to kick start your metabolism for the day and keep you fuelled up until lunch time, while adding a dash of cinnamon will help keep those blood sugars stable so you don't experience the mid morning sugar crash.
The added beauty of a smoothie is that it takes less than a couple of minutes to make, so it is a great option for those crazy days when you only have a short window to nourish your body with the energy it needs for the day.
This recipe will make enough for 2 servings
2 cups of milk (almond or coconut milk work best)
2 frozen bananas
1/2 cup of fresh strawberries
8-10 macadamia nuts
1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
There's not much to it, stick it all in a blender or food processor and blend for one minute until smooth and creamy consistency is achieved, then enjoy!
