The Crew were set to face the Orana Outlaws and Central West Wranglers in two must win matches, but Cricket NSW made the call on Saturday afternoon that the grounds were unplayable. The decision means Orana will progress through to December’s semi final at the SCG by virtue of their number one seed after winning the competition last year.
Central West coach Richie Venner was critical of the decision to abandon the carnival so early in the weekend.
“The wickets were covered, so I can’t really see why we weren’t given a chance to play two games, or all of them if we could, on Sunday.” Venner said.
“Good luck to Orana, they earned that number one ranking from last year, but none of the other teams got an opportunity to progress further at all.”
