Van Kravel had been due to front court for sentencing on a stealing charge after she admitted responsibility for swiping an elderly woman’s handbag at a Windang cafe around 12.45pm on March 16.
The court heard the handbag contained the victim’s identification documents including bank cards and her driver’s licence, as well as the keys to a Toyota Yaris and a brown leather purse containing $160 cash.
Van Krevel was arrested on March 20 and charged with a single count of stealing from a person.
She was released on bail later that day but skipped a scheduled court appearance in June, leading to her arrest.
She was again released on bail and ordered to front court on Tuesday, however, she was not present in the courthouse when her matter was called at 11.30am, prompting Legal Aid solicitor Tim McKenzie to withdraw from the matter.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Shannon Ryan sought to have the court issue another arrest warrant for Van Krevel.
Magistrate Cate Follent agreed to the request and issued the warrant just after midday, giving police the authority to apprehend Van Krevel on sight.
The 36-year-old, once dubbed “Belinda Van Evil”, rose to infamy in 2000 when she was charged with soliciting her then-lover Keith Schreiber to kill her father Jack Van Krevel with a tomahawk, after claiming he had sexually abused her.
She was jailed for six years in 2001 after being found guilty of the charge. She spent a further two years behind bars in 2014 for repeatedly stabbing another partner, Marshall Gould, five times in the neck, leg and arm in their Rockdale unit in June 2013.
Last year, Van Krevel made headlines again when her most recent boyfriend, Glenn McKechnie, was convicted of assaulting and stalking her and sent to jail.
Meantime, Van Krevel herself was charged with pawning a stolen mobile phone and possessing a small amount of methylamphetamine in separate incidents last year.
