The state championships featured the Association or District champion from across NSW in Mixed Pairs, Senior and Open Pairs, Singles, Fours and Senior Fours at Taren Point Bowling Club.
Warilla beat Soldiers Point duo Alison Moxey and Pamela Stevens 18-17 in a thrilling 18 end final, played in tough windy conditions.
It was a tight battle throughout, with the score locked 17-17 heading into the final end.
The Warilla pair held their nerve and came up with the winning shot, leaving skip Taylor not having to play her final bowl.
In the earlier rounds, Warilla had a forfeit win in round one, then beat Helen Woodward’s team 22-10 in round two and defeated Jenny Clark’s team 17-13 to make the final.
h Taylor and Anderson are the only Illawarra state champions in either men’s or women’s championship play for 2017.
