Brown is one of seven surviving members of the Jillaroos squad that sent several legends of the women’s game out as winners. This time co-captain’s Steph Hancock and Renae Kunzt on their final lap and Brown said there was a definite desire to send the Queensland duo out as winners.

“I was really fortunate to be a part of the 2013 squad,” Brown said.

“It was great to be able to send Karen Murphy, probably the greatest of all time, and Nat Dwyer and Tahnee Norris out on such a high. Of course it’s something we want to do this tournament. 

“It was a really special moment for our girls and the team to get one over the Kiwis but it’s not something we look back on too much now. 

“It's about this moment. The game’s come on in leaps bounds since 2013 and it’s really important we embrace this opportunity.”
