Funded for the first time in this year’s budget, the new “enhanced city centre maintenance” team will be deployed across the city centre to target small projects.
The salaries for the five-person team will total up to $6364 a week.
The team will work a nine-day fortnight on a roster involving late starts and finishes, regular weekend shifts and possible public holiday work.
Some of the jobs the team will be tasked with include cleaning public toilets, picking up litter in parks and on footpaths, mowing, gardening and other minor maintenance.
“This position involves undertaking repetitive manual tasks and applicants should be suitably fit to undertake the duties as outlined in the job description,” the council says.
“You will contribute by promoting a highly visible, agile, rapid response to the City Centre through strong customer service, effective maintenance and team work.”
Applications close at midday on Monday.
