“I’ve been coaching a youth girls team at the Shoalhaven carnival and we’ve also got some girls who have been playing juniors with the boys, but there hasn’t been anywhere for the girls to go.” AFL South Coast ambassador Nicci Kennedy said.
“They can’t play juniors at 14 and can’t play in the seniors competition for Saints until they’re 16. There were no real pathways, by launching this competition and the over 15s competition, there’s a pathway for girls now.”
“It’s going to be a fun way to introduce girls to the sport. It will be a nurturing environment with a focus on having fun, not on winning, making friends and trying something new, while also opening up representative opportunities.”
