Jules Read said announcements are expected soon about the Central Coast and Mid North Coast “but my news is to announce that everything is now in place top start conducting ride days at Darkes Forest”.
The new hub near Helensburgh will compliment that presently working well at Oakdale which will continue to service Sydney’s west.
The Darkes Forest program is scheduled to begin in the New Year when ride days will be held on the third Sunday of every month. “To get started we are having a Come and Try Day on Sunday from 10am to 1pm,” Ms Read said.
It will include a barbecue and an opportunity for athletes in the Illawarra and Sydney to experience the fun of riding and being around horses. It includes athletes doing other Special Olympics sports to try something new.
“The wonderful staff at Darkes Forest will be on hand to work closely with out Special Olympics riders and teach them about riding and caring for horses,” Ms Read said.
