Eleven months to the day since he had a horror fall at Moruya, Pollard will take two rides at the Illawarra Turf Club.
Pollard will ride Gwenda Markwell’s Starfruit in the Wongawilli Maiden Plate (1200m) before linking up with Bidgee Ribbon in the Illawarra Turf Club Maiden Handicap (1400m). The return has been a long time coming for Pollard, who has been on the sidelines since January 2.
He ruptured the AC joint in his shoulder, which required reconstructive surgery, and had damage to his C2-3, C5, C6, C7, C5-6 and C6-7 vertebrae.
“It turns out there was quite a lot of damage in there and the neck takes a long time to heal,” Pollard said.
The opening event at Kembla jumps at 12.59pm.
Pollard also has five rides booked for the Sapphire Coast meeting on Monday afternoon.
