The Kembla trainer often travels the four-and-a-half hour journey to the far south coast track for meetings and was on hand again on Monday afternoon.
It was a trip that would pay dividends.
Bateup had a winning double as Jess Taylor rode Jarrett (race two) and Halliday Road (race three) to decisive victories.
“There isn’t many meetings that I don’t make it down to,” Bateup told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
“I always try to find something. It’s a wonderful track and a great committee.
“It is a bit of a drive but when you are getting winners it makes it all worthwhile.”
Jarrett broke his maiden in convincing fashion over the mile before Halliday Road his second first-up win over the Sapphire Coast 900m.
“He loves it here,” Bateup said of Halliday Road.
“I just thought it suited him dropping back the 900m. He drew a nice gate. He obviously has a liking for the place.
“He deserved to win another race.
“Last preparation he was just the bridesmaid all the time. He is such an honest little bugger and is my consistent.”
