Dicey’s Irish Pub is continuing with its major renovations to enhance the iconic pub, drawing on its old school feel but adding a fresh twist to the venue with the introduction of a deck.

Publican George Poulos is excited about the new deck that is opening this Friday December 8 and this weekend, inviting you to be a part of the Gong’s history upon its launch.

“We recruited John Kinnear from Dingo Partners Interior Architecture for his integrity and design work to conceptualise the deck and Kevin Penno from Illawarra Constructions to build it,” George said.

“This is because we were serious about quality and getting the new facility right.

“We have created a new entry thoroughfare through the Keg Room to access the back deck which has a capacity of about 100 people.

“We have made a significant investment and we are very pleased with what we have created for our valued patrons and the people of Wollongong.”

The new deck will be launched from this Friday, December 8 and over the weekend.

Dicey’s will have plenty of giveaways, a free sausage sizzle and $4 schooners between 2-4pm.

“This is an historical occasion,” George added.

“With Dicey’s being over 100 years old, this is Wollongong's oldest pub and the Gong’s newest deck. It’s like the old meeting the new which really encapsulates what Wollongong is about at the moment.

“We have come a long way since we have taken over Dicey’s three years ago and the back deck is a classic fit - the recent big step for Dicey’s.

“Everyone is pumped about it and there is a real buzz around town as people anticipate its opening.”

That’s not the only festive cheer that will greet patrons for this upcoming season.

The Bistro is doing a great value $25 Christmas menu which includes a Christmas pudding for dessert - not to be missed!

Dicey’s offers everyone a warm Irish welcome, as all are welcome to come and enjoy the deck after a century of waiting for the outdoor experience at Diceys.
