Bellambi environmentalist Carol Nance won the highest honour, the Basil Ryan Award for her volunteer efforts regenerating dunes at Bellambi Beach. She removes weeds and plants natives, while cleaning up refuse in waterways near Bellambi Lagoon, and clears up litter and discarded fishing tackle at Bellambi Harbour.
The Citizen of the Year award was given to Dave Williamson, well known locally for his work cleaning up the rubbish left on and around the Windang Bridge – all while on his mobility scooter.
Dapto Baptist Church was recognised for its work cleaning up around the Tallawarra Power Station, while Coledale Public won the schools award for its sustainable environment management plan.
