The Wollongong Open will be held from July 20-22, as part of an action-packed Australian schedule of events, with a number of top players from NSW and interstate expected to compete.
The Greyhounds claimed the spring pennant after finishing atop the Premier League standings with 162 points, ahead of Bulls (145), Eagles (134), Superoos (97) and Raptors (92).
Bulls earned their place in the grand final after beating Eagles in the semi-finals, 2-1 and 106 points to 86.
But captain Elvir Dozo ensured Greyhounds were off to a flying start in the recent spring decider with a 3-nil victory over Peter Bullman.
Bulls No.2 seed Dub Akmacic hit back with a 3-1 win against Bernard Bauer, in what was a tight battle throughout.
It’s setup a massive showdown between Dane Sephton and Bulls’ Michael Bolton to the pennant.
However, Sephton continued his fine form throughout the tournament to win 3-nil.
Dapto, a dominant force in the women’s competition, have claimed the spring and autumn division one titles this year. Greyhounds success came after Raptors (Aaron Graham, Chris Ireland and Gavin Borg) claimed the autumn pennant over Eagles trio Troy Mountford, Colin Watego and Peter Beggs.
The Australian Junior Open will kick-start the new year in Queensland on January 18. Squad is a Commonwealth Games event, underway in April, before the Wollongong Open is held at Dapto.
