Police were called to an address in the suburb about 3pm on Sunday, following reports a 27-year-old woman was armed with a number of knives and making threats.
Officers found the female in the front yard of a house.
After a short period of negotiation, police say the female refused to drop the knives and attempted to enter the premises.
The female was sprayed with capsicum spray. However, she was still in possession of the knives and had to be tasered.
The knives were then removed from her grip by police.
The woman was taken to Wollongong Hospital for assessment.
No one was injured during the incident.
