After falling to University in a one-dayer last Saturday, Dapto bounced back on Sunday to stay unbeaten in the short form. On top of Pool B, they take on Pool A leaders Helensburgh at Reed Park, the winner almost certainly booking a finals place. 

Marsh is sidelined until at least the first match of the new year, after struggling with a plantar fascia foot injury. “We’re missing a bit of experience with Dale (Scifleet) and I out,” Marsh said. 

“But the boys have played really well in the Twenty20, so we’re confident they can keep getting the job done.

“We know there’s an opportunity there now we’ve won our first couple of T20s, so it would be good to get a place in the semis and start again after Christmas.”

Chris Georgiou proved the difference for Dapto in the win over University, finishing 47 not out in a total of 7-125, before surviving a late Students fightback to win by four runs.

Another round of Twenty20 matches will be played on Tuesday, with Helensburgh meeting the competition’s other unbeaten team, Northern Districts. Dapto play Port Kembla.

Uni inflicted a blow on Dapto’s finals hopes in the one and two-day competition last Saturday, but Marsh believes they are still in the hunt, after Wollongong and Helensburgh also lost.

“We’ve got Wollongong and Balgownie straight after Christmas, so we’ll know where we stand then,” he said.
