Police were called to a home on Burreell Crescent about 2am on September 18, after receiving reports of shots fired.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command located projectile fragments and recorded damage to the front of a home.
Police say there were people inside the home at the time, but no one was injured.
Witnesses reported hearing a number of shots and saw a man running from the scene in a southerly direction.
“I thought it was crackers or something,” one resident told the Mercury, later that day. “I didn't think it was a rifle. A rifle is a little bit of a crackle. This didn't crackle.”
The wanted man was described as being about 170-180cms tall, with a medium build.
Detectives are continuing their inquiries into the incident and are appealing for anyone who has information relevant to the investigation to contact police.
Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
