Mark Newnham’s son of Not A Single Doubt was green but still scored impressively by 1-½ lengths in the Christmas Racing At Kembla Grange 2YO Maiden Plate (1000m).
“He has got all the ability in the world, but he is still six months away,” stable representative Nathan Doyle said.
“He is Magic Millions qualified. We were looking at going there but we will see how he pulls up after today’s run. If he pulls up good then we might have another run to see if we can get to the Millions but the horse will tell us.”
The Magic Millions race day is on January 13 next year. and Quackerjack would likely require a further boost in prizemoney to make the field.
He jumped as the $3.20 fixed odds favourite at his second visit to the races and was given a perfect ride by jockey Koby Jennings.
Jennings landed in the box seat pacesetter Laser ($3.60) before peeling off the Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt’s back at the top of the straight.
He quickly kicked clear of the field, with Nick Olive’s pair Dreaming Of Biscay ($6.50) and Action Shale ($26) running on to complete the placings.
“He is a nice horse,” Jennings said.
“He is still a bit green at the moment but he will definitely make it and I reckon 1200m would be his go. If Mark is happy with him and can keep his mind race, he will be a nice horse up in Queensland.”
