One of several festive season events taking place throughout the Illawarra on the weekend was the Wollongong Welsh Choir Christmas Concert at Unanderra Community Centre.
The performance featured old favourites and new numbers, as well as songs from Wales, Australia, England, America, Sweden and Scotland.
Pat Little has been a member of the choir for more than 20 years.
“We do sing Silent Night in Welsh, which is beautiful,” she said. “It has a few Welsh verses. We try to keep the Welsh-ness going.
“We also sing Rod Stewart’s Sailing in Welsh.”
Mrs Little relocated from Wales to Australia in 1974.
“Singing in Welsh is kind of like Italian in a way – it’s very emotional and there’s a lot of feeling in it.
“We get a lot of hwyl, or spirit, from it.”
Carols by the Harbour took place at Little Park, Shellharbour Village on Saturday.
The Illawarra’s carols schedule also includes Carols on Crown in Wollongong on Wednesday.
This will take place at Upper Crown Street Mall from 6pm to 9pm. Bring a cushion or blanket and sing along with Santa and his helpers.
There will also be Christmas Eve Carols at St Michael’s Cathedral, Wollongong.
