Over the Christmas period, the Uniting Church communities will celebrate God’s love and reflect on the gift of Christ’s birth.
All are invited to share in the celebrations and reflections this Christmas.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” – John 3:16.
Lead pastor Rev Mark Greenlees of the Shellharbour City Regional Church said, “For many followers of Jesus Christ the season leading into the celebration of Christmas Day (Advent) is a time of allowing our hearts to be prepared to once again encounter the message of the birth of Jesus Christ as God breaks into the world with a message of hope, peace, joy and love.
“In the busyness of the many wonderful celebrations and preparations of the season, it can be easy to lose our hope, peace, joy and love and allow ourselves to become cynical at all the extra ‘stuff’ that appears to crowd out the real message and overwhelm us with doing rather than being.

“The message of Christmas is that God has come to do everything needed to allow every one of us to be renewed, refreshed and restored in every part of our lives.
“This Christmas may we all hear that message of hope, peace, joy and love for ourselves, our families and our communities.”
Did you know that the Uniting Church is the third largest Christian denomination in Australia? The congregations reflect the multicultural face of our country, embracing people from all corners of the globe.
They are the third largest Christian denomination in Australia and you’ll find them in Australia’s largest cities and most remote towns. Through Uniting, they are also the largest non-government provider of community services in Australia.
Unlike some other churches, they don’t operate under a hierarchy. Instead, they are organised by groups of women and men, lay and ordained. They operate through a series of interrelated councils - local churches, regional presbyteries, state synods and the national Assembly.
They all work together and make decisions by consensus in each area of the Church’s life for the benefit of all.
At the core of Christmas they celebrate peace, joy and love. Contact your local Uniting Church about their Christmas service plans.
