A new workers insurance claims service model for NSW is effective from January 1, 2018 – all NSW employers require work insurance to protect their workers and business against workplace injury or illness.

icare was created in 2015 by the NSW government to deliver the state’s insurance and care schemes. Now a new and improved service delivery model, with Employers Mutual Limited (EML) as the single claims agent for the NSW workers’ compensation scheme is effective January 1, 2018.

With no changes to the way your icare workers insurance premium is calculated, from January 1 all new work-related injuries will go to insurer EML via their portal or by phone, email or fax unless as a large business they have elected to stay with their existing insurer for a period of six months. These insurers will be GIO and Allianz who will continue as scheme agents during this transition period for the management of existing claims until December 31, 2018.
